Spanning over 200 episodes, Stargate SG-1 redefined television sci-fi. Here is how a 1994 film spinoff evolved into an unprecedented multi-galaxy blockbuster saga.
Operating out of Cheyenne Mountain, elite team SG-1 steps through an ancient alien portal to defend Earth against parasitic false gods like the Goa'uld.
The series earned authentic US Air Force support. Two real-life Air Force Chiefs of Staff even guest-starred, praising its respectful depiction of military personnel.
Running for 214 episodes across a decade, SG-1 birthed multiple spinoffs, movie continuations, and remains one of the most beloved sci-fi epics ever made.
